Do you spend more hours designing than you get paid for?
Do you paint new motifs for each design and find it's barely worth your time?
You're not alone. Many designers start out thinking their elements are strictly single use.
One set of motifs = One textile design
And when you tally up the time you spend researching and painting a family of motifs, import them, clean them, and create a finished design with them, your hourly rate is below minimum wage.
But what if you could use the same set of hand-painted elements across multiple designs?
One set of motifs = Many textile designs
Your productivity and your hourly rate would go up, wouldn't it?
This is the secret to your success as a professional textile designer.
Yes. You are right in thinking that duplicate motifs must not be sold in separate designs to different clients.
In the textile industry, not only is this frowned upon, it will lose you customers.
BUT, there are ways to 're-use' your motifs in a way that is accepted.
And you will learn these in this course.
In 3 Leaves, 10 Ways: Ultimate Time-Saving Secrets for Textile Designers we teach you how to break the rules, without really breaking them at all. Our 10 tutorials will open your eyes to true flexibility of your three original motifs.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
We show you how to paint these specific tropical leaf motifs in the mini-course, Studio Sessions: Tropical Leaves in Gouache. If you haven't completed this course, we recommend you either do so first, or find three similar original elements you can work with instead.
YES! You will learn to create each of these designs from just one set of three motifs. Six in-house Longina Phillips Designs designers pull back the curtain on their working processes.
